Welcome to Saluki kennel Shahdad
We are Lucia Bramante & Thomas Kogler and live together with our four-legged pack nearly in the middle of Germany, in Thuringia.
Nearby the bautiful Wartburg castle „Eisenach“ we have found in Mihla / Amt Creuzburg our own dream house. We live very secluded and quite with many meadows and fields around and plenty of space and room for our dogs.
I (Lucia) grew up in Germany, Bochum and for me it was a ritual twice a year to visit the CACIB Dortmund. When I was finally allowed to look for a dog, my mum had a specific idea of the dog that would move in. While I spent most of my free time with my friend’s Australian Shepherd and always saw an ‘Aussie’ by my side, she was looking for a sporty, athletic, slim and tall dog. A sighthound was her wish and I thought to myself, a dog is a dog…better a sighthound than no dog at all.
We agreed on a Saluki and I have to say, this breed took my heart by storm. It is unthinkable for me to live with any other breed. Our life revolve around our dogs and I am so very grateful that we can share our bed and sofa with these fascinating breed.

Salukitype
We prefer a classic, functional, solid and moderate Salukityp which is free from exaggeration. A good, filled front, solid bone strength, moderate angulations and flowing lines.
A light-footed and floating Saluki-movement, not a flying trot or Tremendous Reach and Drive.
Beauty and Performance
Next to their elegance and beauty we should not forget the purpose for what Salukis were bred. We want to preserve this desire to hunt and make sure that our dogs and offspring are willing to perform.
Health and temperament
A healthy mind resides in a healthy body! We prefer friendly and open minded Salukis, which enrich the life of their family.
At the end of the day, nothing beats the health of the dogs. This is why we try to limit diseases as much as possible with various genetic tests.
